Shoppy roundup: Fave Baby Splurges
i struggle with baby essentials lists because really, you don’t *need* a ton for a baby. but i’m not going to pretend like some things don’t make your life easier because they definitely do! so here’s a roundup of my fave splurges as a second time mom.
also i see so many of these on facebook marketplace because babies are babies for such a short amount of time, so check there if you’re trying to save some money or buy less new!
tripp trapp high chair with newborn attachment
i was so late to the tripp trapp chair. i thought it was unnecessary and overpriced but im kicking myself for not getting one with fran, who loved it immediately so we decided to get her one as well 🤣 we love the newborn attachment for foster - it’s allowed us to eat dinner in peace as a family of four MOST nights which is so worth it for me. i also polled yall in my stories a couple months back on the best baby splurge item and this one was in the top two.
babybay bassinet
this is the one big thing i wanted new the second time around! with fran, i had intended to use the nestig mini crib which is so cute, but i was blessed with a baby that woke up SO often it drove me bonkers to get completely out of bed that many times in the night. so i dreamed of this babybay one that has such easy access to your babe for middle of the night feedings, and i have to say, it’s been soooo nice this time around. i also love that it’s plastic-free.
the only note i would add is that it is a little small, so maybe go with the Maxi version so you can use it longer unless you know you have small babies like me or if you’re room is tiny like mine too.
*this was gifted but these thoughts are my own! they also gave me a discount code - LYNDSEY10
mustela spray diaper cream
i have been a fan of mustela as a brand since before fran was born - i did a lot of research on baby soap and went with their body/hair cleansing gel and we’ve used it exclusively for both kiddos with no issues! and then i discovered they made SPRAY diaper cream?! so i don’t have to get it on my hands or use a spatula. 10/10. it’s just as thick and effective as other creams i’ve tried. we have used it a lot for foster and absolutely love.
solly wrap
used a solly wrap a ton with both my babies and i just love them so much for the first two months. i would say you can totally get away with using a carrier from the get go (i have the tula that is newborn friendly) but i find the wraps just so much cozier and it almost doesn’t feel like i’m baby wearing at all.
momcozy bottle washer
okay i didn’t think i was going to love this as much as i do. it washes, sanitizes, and dries! i can put my bottles and pump parts in it. it dries them super fast. it’s got a drain tube that goes to your sink. it’s great! we’ve now done a couple periods of exclusive pumping/bottles and i can’t imagine not having it
*this was gifted but these thoughts are my own!
oddbird robe
okay it doesn’t have to be this exact robe, but i fully believe everyone should have a cozy robe for postpartum. it’s nursing friendly, it’s cozy. and this oddbird one is such nice quality - it’s 100% cotton which is a must and sooo soft and luxurious feeling.

baby bouncer
we actually have the dupe one and not the baby bjorn, but this has come in such handy with our second baby who deals with a LOT of spit up. we try to limit the time in containers but we have to keep him upright for a solid 15+ min after eating and this is so nice to have because we can’t always just hold him while helping our toddler.
babysense monitor
i’m obsessed with this monitor - we had a basic vtech monitor with our first and it worked fine but i looooove this babysense one so much. it allows for multiple cameras with a split screen, or you can do single screen, and you can rotate the cameras from the monitor if you need to get a better angle! the quality is also soooo much better - we didn’t know what we were missing before. it’s also non-wifi which has been important to me for both my kiddos! the only con i have is that the battery life isn’t great.
storq quick change kit
i love this diaper bag pouch - i can throw in a few diapers, wipes, change of clothes, and it comes with the foldable changing mat inside. i love the cute design and it doubles as a high contrast thing for my baby to look at while getting his diaper changed which keeps him calm!! these have been out of stock for a while but im hoping they bring them back soon.
